A Company or LLP can change its name anytime during they are in Active status. As per section 13 of The Companies Act 2013, a company may change its name by passing a special resolution in general meeting and receiving approval form the Central Government. By virtue of section 16 or section 17 or section 18 of The Limited Liability Partnership Act 2008 a name of LLP can be changed.

For a company change in name will lead to change in MOA and AOA of the company and need to be filed with the ROC, and for LLP a name changes leads to change in deed, a supplementary deed is to be drafted and filed with Registrar.
